Casa is the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association. In 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta designated CASA as it's official Fraternity Philanthropy and since that time has contributed nearly $400,000 to support the National CASA Association in it's efforts to provide services, information and support to local community CASA programs. |

CASA was founded in 1977 when Judge David Soukup began to train volunteers to investigate cases of child abuse and learn more about each abused child. After this investigation, the volunteer is able to fairly represent the abused child in court. These programs assist abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system in local communities and others across the U.S. Since these local programs need financial support, office assistance, special project support and CASA volunteers, many Theta chapters and alumnae groups have the opportunity to get involved at a hands-on level. |
Fall 2007 is the first year for this new event. Fraternities and sororities compete in a combination of favorite sports that truly test the skill, talent and teamwork of each chapter. This event is a double-elimination tournament with each level of play designated to a different sport: softball, basketball, volleyball and soccer.
We also hold a competition between the fraternities on our campus. They compete in the swimming pool in events such as Synchronized Swimming, Hot Bod Contest, Boat Races, Swimming Races, Musical Tubes, etc. Spring 2006 we made about $2300 for CASA.
